If I’m going to be honest, the value of your peso in Siargao is not the same as the rest of the Philippines. Siargao is expensive for the most part, and accommodations are no exception.

In August 2024, I spent nearly 100,000 PHP on various hotels, jumping from one to another just to find the best ones for this blog post. One of the key takeaways for me so far is that a 2,500-peso hotel in Siargao would have the qualities of a 1,000-peso hotel in the city… if I’m just being real.

If you would like to stay in accommodations that are up to par while getting your money’s worth, this list highlights the best bang for your buck hotels in Siargao.

Choosing the Best Hotels in Siargao

When finding hotel accommodations in Siargao, my two main criteria are ratings (has to have 8 and above stars) and location (has to be along the Main Tourism Road). I often stay away from accommodations on the back road for convenience reasons. So, most recommendations on this list are found along the Main Tourism Road.

In addition, I veer away from homestays and guesthouses as they tend not to have the same quality of service as hotels. I included one homestay on this list since they provided good service.

Pricing is, of course, a main consideration. I usually set my budget between 2,500-5,000 PHP per night. Anything below 2,000 PHP is below industry standards, based on my observations.

Overall, this Siargao hotel recommendations are based on my personal experience and a bunch of other factors, such as:

  • Location. Is it accessible to basic services?
  • Internet and mobile signal. Is it fast enough to get some work done? Can I take calls or use mobile data without a hiccup?
  • Price. Is it competitive and reasonable?
  • Cleanliness. Is it clean, orderly, and well-maintained?
  • Staff. Is the staff courteous, polite, and accommodating?

Taking all these considerations into account, here are the best hotels in Siargao based on my experience:

1. Bahandi Hotel Siargao

Located along Tourism Road just outside the main tourist hub, Bahandi Hotel left me with the best impression overall. For its price (around 3,800 PHP per night), you get squeaky-clean, modern accommodation and working facilities, including hot and cold showers, a mini-fridge with complimentary snacks, good water pressure, a generator, and a working air conditioning unit.

If you are looking for accommodations with an aesthetic appeal for the gram, Bahandi Hotel has it! They serve complimentary breakfast, too.

One of the things I love is the high-quality mattress and pillows. If you are like me who revels in good pillows, Bahandi Hotel never disappoints. Other qualities worth mentioning include the high ceiling and spacious parking for scooters.

A few things to remember, however. First, the mobile signal in some rooms is patchy, and although they have Starlink Wi-Fi, it barely works in some parts of the rooms.

If you plan to work, there are no dedicated tables inside the rooms. They have a few tables in the alfresco area, but mosquitoes will devour you at night.

Overall, I would book Bahandi Hotel again and again.

2. Buddha Resort

Although its furnishing is a bit dated, I love Buddha Resort’s tropical island vibe. The property has bungalows with verandas where you can chill after a long day of surfing and exploring. Buddha Resort is aesthetically pleasing, with a few photo spots if that’s something you are looking for.

It’s equipped with a vault (it didn’t work for me), mini-fridge, kettle, and work table. The Starlink Wi-Fi is working, and the mobile signal is good. There’s a working table, too.

The water pressure is good, but the hot and cold shower did not work for us. Our room’s door knob was also a pain when unlocking. I already told them to replace it, and I hope they do so, as it was an awful experience.

When my sister and I stayed here, there was still an ongoing construction of their new restaurant. The noise might disturb you in the early morning.

3. Diwa Siargao

It has become a general rule for me to stay away from homestays and guesthouses as they tend not to have the quality of service and cleanliness I’m looking for from regulated hotels and resorts. And to be quite honest, Diwa was the last option for me when I stayed there since it’s pretty far from the GL center. But it was a pleasant surprise!

For 2,500 PHP per night, you get a clean, spacious room away from the noisy bars of General Luna. If you are looking for an affordable stay and don’t mind the distance from the GL center (about 2.5 kilometers), I can’t recommend Diwa enough!

In terms of aesthetics, Diwa is a sight to behold and worthy of being shared on social media. They have a spacious, well-manicured garden for activities (yoga, picnic, etc.).

The staff is nice. There’s a complimentary Filipino breakfast—not much, but it’s A-OK. They have fiber Wi-Fi, and the mobile signal is good as well.

One thing you won’t like about the property is the poor water pressure, so using the shower might not be a good idea. Nevertheless, it’s working.

Overall, Diwa Siargao is recommended for families or anyone who wants to stay away from the GL center.

4. Copacabana Siargao

Hotels in Siargao located within the GL center are expensive. If you are looking for a private room with a private bathroom within the center without breaking the bank, consider Copacabana Siargao. For 2,500 PHP per night, you get a decent room with functioning facilities.

Location: Main Tourism Road (see map)

Booking.com Rating: 9.2/10

Google Rating: 4.9/5

5. Puyo Suites Homestay

Another popular homestay is Puyo Suites. It’s located within the town center, so you have easy access to restaurants, bars, and shops.

Its nightly rate ranges between 1,500-1,900 PHP. I was able to book it for 1,300 PHP per night in the off-season, so I’d say I really got my money’s worth.

They have a good Wi-Fi connection and mobile signal. The balcony is a nice place to chill, too.
