The most common mode of transportation would be to take a 3-hour bus and ferry ride to Bantayan Island—it’s worth it! The bus terminal for Bantayan-bound buses is at Cebu North Bus Terminal (see map), near SM City Cebu.

You can also take a turboprop plane to get to Bantayan Island. In October 2025, LEASCOR resumed direct flights from Mactan Airport to Bantayan Island Airport. However, there’s no consistent scheduling.

Is there a ferry from Cebu City to Bantayan Island?

Unfortunately, there is no direct ferry from Cebu City to Bantayan Island. You need to take the ferry from Hagnaya (3 hours away from Cebu City) or Kawit, Medellin (3.5 hours away from Cebu City) to Santa Fe, Bantayan Island. The most common route is via Hagnaya. How many hours to travel from Cebu to Bantayan Island?

The total travel time from Cebu City to Bantayan Island is roughly 3-4 hours. The bus from Cebu City to Hagnaya Port may take 3 hours, depending on the traffic and your departure time. We highly recommend leaving early in the morning to get there fast. The ferry from Hagnaya Port to Santa Fe Port takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

If you are coming from Mactan Airport, it may take 30-45 minutes. Chartered vehicles are faster and more convenient since they don’t have stops like buses.

The total cost to get from Cebu City to Bantayan Island is about 683 PHP (~12.5 USD), including the regular aircon bus fare, open-air RORO, and terminal fee. On your return, if you are coming back straight to the airport, buses can drop you off at Pacific Mall and then take a taxi to the airport. You don’t need to get off at Cebu North Bus Terminal, which is farther from the airport unless you want to take the MyBus to the airport. MyBus Terminal is right beside Cebu North Bus Terminal. Also, if South Cebu is your next stop (Moalboal, Badian, Oslob, etc.), you can get off at Cebu South Bus Terminal. Just tell the driver or conductor.
