Malapascua Island is situated in the Visayan Sea 116 kilometers from Cebu City. You need to take a bus and an outrigger boat to reach the island.

Malapascua Island Budget

We did not include transportation within the islands in the breakdown of expenses, assuming you are renting a scooter. A scooter for rent in Malapascua Island costs 500 PHP (~20 USD) for 1 day. A liter of gas costs around 75 PHP (~1.5 USD).

Overall, here’s the total expense for a Malapascua Island trip:

  • Lunch – 200 PHP x 3 meals = 800 PHP
  • Dinner – 200 PHP x 3 meals = 800 PHP
  • Hippocampus Beach Resort – 1,500 x 2 nights = 3,000 PHP
  • Scooter – 500 x 1 day = 500 PHP
  • Gas – 75 PHP x 1 liters = 75 PHP
  • Base expenses (fare, entrance fees, etc.) = 2,765 PHP
  • TOTAL = 7,940 PHP (~145 USD)

Adjust your meal and accommodation budget accordingly. A basic meal in Malapascua Island costs around 200-300 PHP (~4-6 USD). Eating at local restaurants and eateries would cost 100-150 PHP (~2-3 USD) per meal.
