Is There a Ferry from Cebu to Siargao?

No, there is no direct ferry from Cebu to Siargao. However, Cokaliong Shipping Lines and Starlight Ferries have daily trips from Cebu City to Surigao City. When in Surigao City, you can take the ferry from Surigao Port to Dapa Port in Siargao. Travel time is 8.5-10 hours, depending on the type of ferry on schedule.

The fare from Cebu to Surigao starts at 1,200 PHP (~22 USD) for a regular reclining seat with Starlight Ferries and 1,320 PHP (~24 USD) for a regular economy bed with Cokaliong Shipping. How Much Does It Cost to Go to Siargao?

The cost of going to Siargao depends heavily on when and on what day you book your flight. Flights from Cebu to Siargao booked a month in advance can cost anywhere between 1,500 and 2,000 PHP (~30-40 USD) one way. Flights booked on short notice can go up as high as 15,000 PHP (~365 USD) one way.

What Is the Cheapest Way to Siargao?

The cheapest way is a plane from Cebu to Siargao if you book a ticket in advance. Cebu Pacific, in particular, has promo rates here and there that you can book months ahead of time.

If you visit Siargao on a week’s or month’s notice, the cheapest way to get there is by ferry from Cebu to Surigao City and then another ferry to Siargao. How to Go to Siargao from Cebu

There are two main options to get from Cebu to Siargao: by plane and by ferry. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get to Siargao Island from Cebu in both ways:

Option #1: Direct Flight from Cebu to Siargao

To go to Siargao from Cebu by plane, you can book your flight here. Both Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines have multiple daily flights from Cebu to Siargao and vice versa, as well as boutique airline Sunglight Air.

All Cebu to Siargao flights depart from Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 1 in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu and land at Siargao Airport (officially known as Sayak Airport) in Del Carmen, Siargao Island. The travel time is 1 hour.

The fare from Cebu to Siargao depends on the season and which day of the week you fly. The cost is higher in the summer months and around holidays.

One-way Cebu to Siargao flights booked within the week cost around 3,500 PHP (~63 USD) from Cebu. Meanwhile, flights booked at least a month prior would cost around 1,600 PHP (~28 USD).

Expect that flights on weekends and holidays are more expensive. For instance, last Holy Week, the cost of a one-way flight from Cebu to Siargao booked one week before the long holiday weekend went up to 12,800 PHP (~230 USD).

Nevertheless, Cebu Pacific frequently offers seat sale promos, which slash the regular cost of flights by 50% or even more.

How many minutes from Cebu to Siargao?

The flight from Cebu to Siargao takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Including the waiting time and transfers to and from airports might take 3 hours in total.

How far is Siargao Airport from General Luna? 

Siargao Airport is 30 kilometers from General Luna’s center. It takes about 45 minutes to travel to and from General Luna to Siargao Airport.

How to get from Siargao Airport to General Luna

If you are coming from Siargao Airport, there are vans for hire or V-Hires outside that will take passengers to their hotel in General Luna. The fare from Siargao airport to General Luna is 300 PHP (~6 USD). V-Hires are usually packed to the brim. They carry 12-15 people at a time.

Alternatively, you can charter a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) or a tricycle and expect to pay around 400-500 PHP (~5 USD) or 500-600 PHP (~6 USD), respectively. Habal-habal can take up to 2 passengers, while tricycles can take up to 5. It may not be the most comfortable option, but it’s a great way to get a taste of living on the island.

Option #2: Ferry From Cebu to Siargao via Surigao City

If you plan to visit Siargao from Cebu on short notice, the best way is to take two ferry rides. You will make a quick layover at Surigao Port in this case.

Starlite Ferries and Cokaliong Shipping have daily trips from Cebu City to Surigao City. The fare starts at 1,200 PHP (~22 USD) for a regular reclining seat with Starlight Ferries and 1,320 PHP (~24 USD) for a regular economy bed with Cokaliong Shipping.  

The travel time from Cebu to Surigao is 8.5 to 10 hours, depending on the type of ferry on schedule. Take Starlite Ferries, as it’s cleaner and more well-maintained.

Once at Surigao Port, take a fastcraft ferry to Dapa Port, Siargao. The fare is 400 PHP (~8 USD) for an open-air or tourist-class accommodation. The travel time from Surigao to Siargao is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Outside Dapa Port, you can charter a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) (up to 2 passengers) or tricycle (up to 5 passengers) to take you to your hotel in General Luna. Fare is 300 PHP (~6 USD) for habal-habal and 300-350 PHP (~6-7 USD) for tricycle. Travel time is 30 minutes.

Alternatively, you can take the DATSCO modern jeepney to General Luna, which is open from 6 AM to 6 PM. The fare is 30 PHP (~0.5 USD) per head. The DATSCO terminal (see map) is only 100 meters west of Dapa Port’s gate. It’s easy to find—just ask the locals for directions.

How to get to Siargao from Surigao via Del Carmen

If the fastcraft ferries at Dapa Port are full (which often happens during Holy Week) or you don’t want to take RORO, which takes about 4 hours to reach Siargao, you can get to Siargao via Del Carmen, a town about an hour away from General Luna.

Head over to Surigao Fastcraft Port (see map), about 150 meters east of Surigao Port. The fare from Surigao Fastcraft Port to Del Carmen, Siargao, is 400 PHP (~8 USD), and the travel time is 2 hours.

Outside Del Carmen Port, you can charter a habal-habal or tricycle to bring you to your hotel in General Luna. The fare is 500 PHP (~10 USD) for habal-habal (up to 2 passengers) or 700 PHP (~14 USD) for tricycles (up to 5 passengers). Travel time is 1 hour.

There are DATSCO modern jeepneys outside Del Carmen Port to General Luna. However, their schedule is only a couple of times per day, so you might be unable to catch them.

How many hours from Cebu to Siargao by ship?

The travel time by ferry from Cebu City to Siargao is about 13 hours, including waiting time and transfers from ferry to ferry. The trip from Cebu to Surigao takes about 10 hours, while the trip from Surigao to Siargao takes about 1.5 hours. Add to that the waiting time and transfer to ports.

How to get from Dapa Port to General Luna

Outside Dapa Port, you can charter a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) (up to 2 passengers) or tricycle (up to 5 passengers) to take you to your hotel in General Luna. Option #3: Flight From Cebu to Siargao via Surigao City

In case flights from Cebu to Siargao are too expensive or booked on your desired schedule, you can take a flight from Cebu Airport to Surigao Airport.

Both Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines have multiple direct flights from Cebu to Surigao City daily. All flights depart from Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 1 in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, and land at Siargao Airport (officially known as Sayak Airport) in Del Carmen, Siargao Island. The travel time is 1 hour.

From Surigao Airport, take a multicab or tricycle to Surigao Port. The fare is 50-100 PHP (1-2 USD). Travel time is 10 minutes.
